Amie started doing more abstract pieces when she opened Artfulness Gallery in April 2005 and found that she could get on with these paintings whilst in the Gallery. She found it too difficult to concentrate on her landscape art but realised that abstract art was more relaxing and experimentational, so could be worked on despite distractions. She cannot remember how the explosions came about, but for some reason went on to produce many in different dimensions and colours, finding them thereputic to recreate. They proved extremely popular and Amie was often commissioned to do specific versions.

Most of her abstract paintings are created using a mixture of handmade paper, ink, bleach, acrylic paint and metalic paint on canvas.

Amie Antoniak's abstract collage paintings are all about experimentation, both with composition of pattern and with the materials used. Amie creates the collages using handmade paper, various types of paint, ink and bleech. Gold, silver and luminous colours are used effectively in her work.

A lot of her recent paintings have depicted an explosive burst of energy, each one involving a variety of colour and texture. Amie says the purpose of these is to make the viewer feel physically energized and wide awake when looking at these paintings. Ironically the whole process of creating these explosions is actually very relaxing and even meditative. Amie says she gets a great deal of satisfaction out of producing such paintings, mainly through the fantastic effects of all the materials mixed together. They are certianly never a chore to do!
