Artist: Jess Alys

Jess Alys is a portrait artist working in York. She also paints patterns, mainly based on fractals, as well as landscapes and collages. Her more recent project includes paintings of cats in mysterious and patterned settings. She is a self taught artist with a gently naive style. She taught herslef to paint when she became restricted with m.e. syndrome and started working professionally when she began to recover. Her interest in patterns and fractals grew out of her scientific background- she has a degree in Astronomy.
